- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)
- For the Cinnamon Coating:
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Optional Glaze (Optional):
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Make the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 2-3 minutes until smooth. - Shape the Twists:
Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into strips approximately 1 inch wide. Twist each strip by holding both ends and rotating in opposite directions. - Prepare the Cinnamon Coating:
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. - Bake the Twists:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the twists on the sheet and lightly spray with cooking spray or brush with melted butter. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the twists. - Cook:
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. - Optional Glaze:
While the twists cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over the twists before serving.
Notes
- You can use all-purpose flour with 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt as a substitute for self-rising flour.
- For extra flavor, brush the twists with melted butter before coating with cinnamon sugar.
- These are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
