Description

This Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Breast recipe delivers the perfect crunch without deep frying! Tender, juicy chicken is coated in a seasoned breadcrumb crust and air fried to golden perfection. Quick, easy, and healthier than traditional frying – it’s perfect for salads, sandwiches, or a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tbsp milk or water (for egg wash)

  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • Olive oil spray

Instructions

  • Prep the chicken:
Pound chicken breasts to even thickness (about 1/2 inch thick). Pat dry with paper towels.

  • Set up breading station:

    • Bowl 1: flour

    • Bowl 2: egg + milk, whisked

    • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs, Parmesan (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper

  • Bread the chicken:
Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the egg wash, then press into the breadcrumb mixture, coating all sides well.

  • Preheat the air fryer:
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.

  • Cook:
Spray both sides of the breaded chicken with olive oil spray. Place in air fryer basket (don’t overcrowd). Air fry at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and internal temp reaches 165°F.

  • Serve:
Let rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve on salads, sandwiches, wraps, or with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a GF version.

  • Add cayenne or chili powder to the breadcrumb mix for a spicy kick.

  • Store leftovers in the fridge for 2–3 days; reheat in the air fryer for best texture.
