For the Pockets
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
For Assembling
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Cooking spray or oil (for air fryer basket)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut into 4 equal rectangles.
- Assemble the Pockets: Place a slice of ham and cheese on one half of each rectangle. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard if using. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each pocket with beaten egg for a glossy, golden finish.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil, then preheat to 370ยฐF (188ยฐC) for 3 minutes.
- Air Fry: Place the pockets in the basket, leaving space between them. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Cool and Serve: Let the pockets cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
- Swap out the ham or cheese for your favorite deli meats or varieties.
- Puff pastry works best, but crescent dough can be used as an alternative.
- Be sure not to overfill the pockets to prevent leaking during cooking.
- Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes.
