Scale
- 4 medium potatoes (about 500g), peeled and quartered
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
Instructions
- Boil the Potatoes: Place the peeled and quartered potatoes in a pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Mash the Potatoes: Drain the potatoes and mash them until smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
- Add Butter and Salt: Mix the melted butter and salt into the mashed potatoes.
- Incorporate Flour: Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. The dough should not be sticky.
- Shape the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the dough into a circle about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thick. Cut into 4 equal quarters (triangles).
- Cook the Farls: Heat a dry, non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook the farls for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges.
- Serve Warm: Remove from the skillet and serve immediately, plain or with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- For an extra crispy texture, cook with a small amount of butter in the pan.
- Leftover farls can be reheated in a skillet or toaster.
