Description

Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp is a delightful appetizer that combines succulent shrimp with crispy bacon, offering a sweet and savory flavor that’s sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
  • 8 slices of bacon, halved crosswise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Partially Cook Bacon: Arrange the halved bacon slices on the prepared rack. Bake for 8-10 minutes until partially cooked but still pliable. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  3. Prepare Marinade: In a bowl, mix olive oil, maple syrup, soy sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Marinate Shrimp: Add shrimp to the marinade, tossing to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Wrap Shrimp: Wrap each marinated shrimp with a piece of partially cooked bacon, securing with a toothpick.
  6. Broil Shrimp: Preheat the broiler. Place the bacon-wrapped shrimp on the wire rack over the baking sheet. Broil for 5 minutes, flip, and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes until shrimp are pink and bacon is crispy.
  7. Serve: Transfer to a serving platter, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Bacon Thickness: Use regular-cut bacon for optimal crispiness.
  • Shrimp Size: Large or jumbo shrimp work best for this recipe.
  • Make Ahead: Assemble the bacon-wrapped shrimp in advance and refrigerate until ready to broil.
