- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced (about 1 cup)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare the apples: In a small bowl, toss the diced apple with lemon juice to prevent browning. Set aside.
- Make the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
- Form the fritters: Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You should get around 8-10 fritters.
- Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the glaze: While the fritters bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Glaze the fritters: Once the fritters are done baking, let them cool for about 5 minutes, then drizzle the glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!

- For a more indulgent flavor, you can sautรฉ the apples in a bit of butter and cinnamon before adding them to the batter.
- Feel free to use your favorite type of apple. Granny Smith apples add a tart flavor, while Honeycrisp or Fuji are sweeter options.
