- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup (180ml) milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
- 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
- 3–4 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Yellow food coloring
For Decoration:
- Black icing gel or melted dark chocolate
- White chocolate or candy melts (for wings)
- Mini chocolate chips or edible candy eyes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Doughnuts:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the doughnuts comes out clean. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make the Glaze:
- In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add yellow food coloring until the desired shade is achieved.
- Decorate the Doughnuts:
- Dip each cooled doughnut into the yellow glaze, letting excess drip off. Place on a wire rack to set.
- Use black icing gel or melted dark chocolate to draw bee stripes on each doughnut.
- For wings, attach white chocolate pieces or candy melts using a small dab of glaze. Add mini chocolate chips or edible candy eyes for a cute bee face if desired.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Allow the decorations to set before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
Notes
- For a fried version, use a traditional doughnut dough and fry in hot oil (350°F/175°C) until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- If you don’t have a doughnut pan, you can use a muffin tin and cut out the centers once baked.
