- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (divided)
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Make the Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Donโt let it boil โ just warm enough to dissolve the sugar.
- Soak the Cranberries: Remove the syrup from heat and let it cool for 10 minutes. Add the cranberries to the syrup, stirring to coat. Let them soak for at least 1 hour, or up to overnight for a stronger flavor.
- Drain and Dry: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cranberries to a wire rack placed over a baking sheet. Let them dry for 1 hour until theyโre tacky to the touch.
- Coat with Sugar: Place the remaining ยฝ cup of sugar in a shallow bowl. Roll the sticky cranberries in the sugar until well coated. Place them back on the rack to dry for another hour.
- Serve or Store: Enjoy immediately, or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Notes
- You can use superfine sugar for an extra sparkly look.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla to the simple syrup for a flavor twist.
- Perfect for garnishing cakes, pies, and holiday cocktails!
