Description

A delightful twist on the classic grilled cheese, pairing creamy Brie with sweet-tart blueberries for a gourmet sandwich perfect for brunch or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 slices of artisan bread (such as sourdough or country loaf)
  • 4 oz Brie cheese, rinded edges trimmed off and sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh or thawed frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Small handful of fresh arugula or baby spinach (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place two slices, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  4. Top each with sliced Brie, then scatter blueberries over the cheese. Drizzle honey or maple syrup if using, and add arugula/spinach if desired.
  5. Cover with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  6. Cook for 3โ€“4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook another 3โ€“4 minutes until the second side is golden and the Brie is fully melted.
  8. Remove from heat and let rest for 1 minute, then slice in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh blueberries in season for best flavor; frozen are fine, but thaw and drain excess liquid.
  • For extra crunch, add a thin layer of toasted pecans or walnuts.
  • To prevent sogginess, blot blueberries if particularly juicy.
  • Serve with a simple green salad or cup of tomato soup for a complete meal.
