Description

This Blueberry Cream Cheese Puff Pastry is a delightful and easy-to-make dessert or breakfast treat. Buttery, flaky puff pastry is layered with a luscious cream cheese filling and fresh blueberries, then baked to golden perfection. A light dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of glaze takes it to the next level.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (for dusting blueberries)

Optional Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1โ€“2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  2. Prep the Puff Pastry:
Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the thawed puff pastry slightly on a floured surface to smooth the seams. Cut the pastry into 4 equal rectangles.
  3. Assemble the Pastries:
Place the puff pastry rectangles on the prepared baking sheet. Spread a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture in the center of each rectangle, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Toss blueberries with flour to coat, then sprinkle them over the cream cheese.
  4. Bake:
Fold the edges of the puff pastry slightly over the filling. Bake for 15โ€“18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  5. Optional Glaze:
While the pastries are cooling, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle over cooled pastries before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute blueberries with raspberries, blackberries, or chopped strawberries for variety.
  • For extra sweetness, sprinkle the edges of the puff pastry with sugar before baking.
