Description

Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, these Broccoli Cheese Balls are the perfect snack or appetizer. Packed with the goodness of broccoli and the melty delight of cheese, they’re easy to make and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (steamed and finely chopped)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • Cooking oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Steam the broccoli until tender, then finely chop it. Allow it to cool.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the broccoli, cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and chili flakes (if using). Mix well to form a dough-like consistency.
  3. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into bite-sized balls.
  4. Roll each ball in breadcrumbs for an extra crispy coating.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  6. Remove the balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, bake the balls at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • You can add finely chopped herbs like parsley or cilantro for extra flavor.
  • Make sure the mixture is not too wet; adjust with extra breadcrumbs if needed.
