Scale
- 2 cups broccoli florets (steamed and finely chopped)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
- Cooking oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Steam the broccoli until tender, then finely chop it. Allow it to cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the broccoli, cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and chili flakes (if using). Mix well to form a dough-like consistency.
- Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into bite-sized balls.
- Roll each ball in breadcrumbs for an extra crispy coating.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
- Remove the balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a healthier option, bake the balls at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- You can add finely chopped herbs like parsley or cilantro for extra flavor.
- Make sure the mixture is not too wet; adjust with extra breadcrumbs if needed.
