Description

Juicy and flavorful burgers cooked to perfection in the oven! This method is perfect for when grilling isnโ€™t an option but you still want a delicious homemade burger. Easy to customize with your favorite toppings and seasonings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: cheese slices, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:ย Preheat your oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top (optional for better air circulation).
  2. Prepare the Patties:ย In a large bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until just combined. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 1/2 inch thick. Press a small dimple in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
  3. Place on Baking Sheet:ย Arrange the patties on the prepared baking sheet or directly on the rack if using.
  4. Bake the Burgers:ย Bake in the preheated oven for 15โ€“20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160ยฐF (71ยฐC) for medium doneness. For cheeseburgers, add a slice of cheese during the last 2โ€“3 minutes of baking.
  5. Toast the Buns (Optional):ย Place the buns on the baking sheet during the last 3โ€“5 minutes of cooking to lightly toast.
  6. Assemble:ย Remove the burgers and buns from the oven. Assemble your burgers with desired toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For juicier burgers, do not overmix the beef. Handle the meat gently while forming the patties.
  • Swap out ground beef for ground turkey or plant-based meat for dietary preferences.
  • Add flavor by mixing in Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce, or shredded cheese to the beef mixture.
