For the Apple Filling
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter
For Assembly
- 1 can (8 count) refrigerated biscuit dough
- 8 soft caramel candies
For Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Apple Filling: In a small skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced apple, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook, stirring often, until apples are soft and mixture is syrupy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Assemble the Bombs: Flatten each biscuit dough round into a 4-inch circle. Add a spoonful of apple filling and 1 caramel candy to the center of each round. Pinch dough edges together to seal and form a ball; place seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the bombs are puffed and golden brown. Cool slightly on a wire rack.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Brush each warm pie bomb with melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat all sides. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra gooey centers, use two mini caramels in each bomb if your biscuit dough allows.
- You can substitute Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for a nice balance of tartness and sweetness.
- These pie bombs are best enjoyed fresh and warm but can be reheated in the microwave for 10 seconds.
- Add a sprinkle of sea salt to the caramel before sealing for a salted caramel twist.
