For the Bombs:
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
- 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 8 soft caramel candies
For Coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
Optional Toppings:
- Caramel sauce for drizzling
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat Oven:ย Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare Apple Filling:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, cook the diced apples, 1/3 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for 5โ7 minutes until the apples are slightly softened. Remove from heat and let cool. - Assemble Bombs:
- Flatten each biscuit into a 4โ5 inch circle.
- Spoon 1โ2 tablespoons of the apple mixture into the center of each biscuit.
- Add one caramel candy on top of the apple filling.
- Carefully pull the edges of the dough up and over the filling, pinching to seal completely. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake:
Bake for 12โ15 minutes, or until the bombs are golden brown and puffed. - Coat Bombs:
While still warm, brush each bomb with melted butter. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon, then roll each bomb in the mixture to coat evenly. - Serve:
Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- To save time, you can use pre-made apple pie filling instead of making your own.
- These are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the microwave for 10โ15 seconds.
