Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Bombs:

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 8 soft caramel candies

For Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

Optional Toppings:

  • Caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:ย Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare Apple Filling:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, cook the diced apples, 1/3 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for 5โ€“7 minutes until the apples are slightly softened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Assemble Bombs:
    • Flatten each biscuit into a 4โ€“5 inch circle.
    • Spoon 1โ€“2 tablespoons of the apple mixture into the center of each biscuit.
    • Add one caramel candy on top of the apple filling.
    • Carefully pull the edges of the dough up and over the filling, pinching to seal completely. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake:
Bake for 12โ€“15 minutes, or until the bombs are golden brown and puffed.
  5. Coat Bombs:
While still warm, brush each bomb with melted butter. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon, then roll each bomb in the mixture to coat evenly.
  6. Serve:
Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • To save time, you can use pre-made apple pie filling instead of making your own.
  • These are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the microwave for 10โ€“15 seconds.
