2 tablespoons butter
-
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
-
Add the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to form a roux.
-
Gradually whisk in the milk and cook for 3–4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
-
Lower the heat and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until it melts completely into the sauce.
-
Slowly add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
-
Add Dijon mustard (if using), garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste.
-
If the dip is too thick, you can add more milk, a tablespoon at a time, to reach your desired consistency.
-
Serve warm with pretzels and enjoy!
Notes
-
You can use other cheeses like Monterey Jack or a blend of cheddar and mozzarella for a different flavor.
-
For a little heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
-
This dip also works well with chips, crackers, or vegetables.
