Description

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, sliced into 1/2 inch rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Separate onion into individual rings and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the milk and egg together.
  4. In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the milk-egg mixture, and finally coat with the breadcrumb-cheese mixture. Press to adhere.
  6. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauce of choice.
