  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line with foil.
  2. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness if needed.
  3. Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, whisk eggs and water in another, and combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a third.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere.
  5. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Sear chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown but not fully cooked. Transfer to baking dish.

  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and cheese is melted and bubbly.
