- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 36 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep:ย Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Wet Ingredients:ย In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:ย In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Make the Dough:ย Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined. Stir in milk until the dough is smooth.
- Shape & Roll:ย Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls and roll them in granulated sugar. Place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake:ย Bake for 8โ10 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Add the Kiss:ย Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Enjoy!ย Let cookies cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For extra chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- You can swap chocolate kisses for peanut butter cups or caramel-filled chocolates.
