Description

These decadent chocolate cherry cookies combine rich chocolate flavor with sweet and tart dried cherries. Perfect for dessert or a sweet snack, theyโ€™re easy to make and absolutely irresistible.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dried cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and dried cherries.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, soak the dried cherries in warm water or a splash of cherry liqueur for 10 minutes before folding them into the dough.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
