Description

Chocolate Croissant Cookies are delightful treats that combine the flaky texture of croissants with rich chocolate, resulting in a cookie that resembles a mini chocolate croissant. These cookies are made with a tender cream cheese dough wrapped around pieces of milk chocolate, then baked until golden brown.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg, separated
  • 6 Hersheyโ€™s Milk Chocolate Bars (1.55 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons coarse or sparkling sugar, for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
    • Add the vanilla extract and egg yolk to the butter mixture; blend until combined.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
  2. Shape the Cookies:
    • Unwrap 5 of the chocolate bars and break each into 4 equal pieces, yielding 20 pieces total.
    • On a floured surface, roll the dough into a 20ร—8-inch rectangle.
    • Cut the dough into twenty 4ร—2-inch rectangles.
    • Place a piece of chocolate across each dough rectangle so it slightly overhangs the edges.
    • Fold the dough around the chocolate, sealing the edges, and place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Bake:
    • Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
    • Brush the tops of the cookies with the lightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
    • Bake for 18-22 minutes, until light golden brown, rotating the baking sheets halfway through.
  4. Add Chocolate Drizzle:
    • Melt the remaining chocolate bar in the microwave on 50% power for about 1 minute, stirring until smooth.
    • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled cookies.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Chilling the dough briefly can make it easier to handle and roll out.
  • These cookies are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
