- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg, separated
- 6 Hersheyโs Milk Chocolate Bars (1.55 oz each)
- 3 tablespoons coarse or sparkling sugar, for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
- Add the vanilla extract and egg yolk to the butter mixture; blend until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
- Shape the Cookies:
- Unwrap 5 of the chocolate bars and break each into 4 equal pieces, yielding 20 pieces total.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough into a 20ร8-inch rectangle.
- Cut the dough into twenty 4ร2-inch rectangles.
- Place a piece of chocolate across each dough rectangle so it slightly overhangs the edges.
- Fold the dough around the chocolate, sealing the edges, and place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- Brush the tops of the cookies with the lightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes, until light golden brown, rotating the baking sheets halfway through.
- Add Chocolate Drizzle:
- Melt the remaining chocolate bar in the microwave on 50% power for about 1 minute, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled cookies.
