- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about ยผ-inch thickness. Use holiday cookie cutters to cut shapes, and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
