- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup red and green holiday sprinkles (optional)
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using), and beat until combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and holiday sprinkles.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers will look soft but will set as they cool.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra chewy cookies, slightly underbake them and let them finish setting on the baking sheet.
- Swap in white chocolate chips or add crushed candy canes for a fun holiday twist.
- These cookies freeze well—just store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
