Description

Christmas Hot Cocoa Bombs are festive, delicious, and perfect for holiday gifting or cozy winter nights. These chocolate spheres are filled with cocoa mix and mini marshmallows, melting into a creamy, rich hot chocolate when added to warm milk. Fun to make and delightful to enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Chocolate Shells:
    • 2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips (or chocolate candy melts)
  • For the Filling:
    • 1 cup hot cocoa mix
    • 1 cup mini marshmallows
    • Optional: crushed peppermint, sprinkles, or festive edible glitter

Optional Decoration:

  • White chocolate (melted, for drizzling)
  • Holiday-themed sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate:
    • Place the chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  2. Prepare the Molds:
    • Using a silicone sphere mold, spoon about 1-2 teaspoons of melted chocolate into each cavity. Spread the chocolate evenly with the back of a spoon or a pastry brush to coat the sides.
    • Let the chocolate set in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. Repeat with a second layer to ensure sturdiness, and chill again.
  3. Remove from Molds:
    • Gently pop the chocolate shells out of the silicone molds.
  4. Fill the Bombs:
    • Add 1 tablespoon of hot cocoa mix and a few mini marshmallows to half of the chocolate shells. Include additional toppings like crushed peppermint or sprinkles if desired.
  5. Seal the Bombs:
    • Warm a small plate in the microwave. Take an empty chocolate shell and press its edge gently onto the warm plate to slightly melt it. Quickly place it over a filled half and seal the edges.
    • Smooth any gaps with a little extra melted chocolate if needed.
  6. Decorate:
    • Drizzle melted white chocolate over the bombs and add holiday sprinkles for a festive touch. Let the decorations set completely.
  7. Store:
    • Store the cocoa bombs in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
  8. Use:
    • Place a cocoa bomb in a mug. Pour 1 cup of warm milk over it, stir, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best taste and texture.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the cocoa mix based on your preference.
