Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Cookie Dough:

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (90g) mini chocolate chips

For the Coating:

  • 8 ounces (225g) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • Optional: sprinkles or extra mini chocolate chips for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Flour:
Heat-treat the flour by spreading it evenly on a baking sheet and baking at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes. Let it cool completely before use.
  2. Make the Cookie Dough:
    • In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
    • Mix in the vanilla extract, milk, and salt.
    • Gradually add the heat-treated flour and mix until a dough forms.
    • Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  3. Form the Truffles:
    • Scoop 1-inch portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Freeze the dough balls for 20-30 minutes, or until firm.
  4. Coat the Truffles:
    • Dip each frozen dough ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Use a fork or skewer to lift the truffle and tap off any excess chocolate.
    • Place the coated truffles back on the parchment-lined sheet and immediately garnish with sprinkles or mini chocolate chips, if desired.
  5. Set the Truffles:
    • Let the truffles sit at room temperature or chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate is fully hardened.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Heat-treating the flour ensures it’s safe to eat raw.
  • Use dairy-free chocolate chips and butter for a vegan option.
  • You can swap semi-sweet chocolate for dark or milk chocolate, depending on your preference.
