- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (110ยฐF or 45ยฐC)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast:ย In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Prepare the dough:ย In a large mixing bowl, combine the cottage cheese, egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
- Mix in the flour:ย Add the yeast mixture and gradually stir in the flour, ยฝ cup at a time, until a dough forms.
- Knead:ย Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First rise:ย Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
