- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh spinach, chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the ovenย to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the gnocchiย according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Make the sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sautรฉ for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the cream and milk: Stir in the heavy cream and whole milk, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
- Melt the cheese: Add mozzarella, Parmesan, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Combine: Add the cooked gnocchi to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. If using bacon or spinach, stir them in now.
- Transfer to baking dish: Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake: Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and the top is lightly golden.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh basil, and let it cool slightly before serving.
