Itโ€™s an easy, one-pan dish thatโ€™s perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner. Serve it on its own or with a side of garlic bread and a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (16 oz) potato gnocchi
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the ovenย to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the gnocchiย according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sautรฉ for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the cream and milk: Stir in the heavy cream and whole milk, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Melt the cheese: Add mozzarella, Parmesan, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Combine: Add the cooked gnocchi to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. If using bacon or spinach, stir them in now.
  7. Transfer to baking dish: Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Bake: Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and the top is lightly golden.
  9. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh basil, and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra cheesiness, sprinkle an additional ยฝ cup of mozzarella on top before baking.
  • You can use store-bought or homemade gnocchi.
  • Add cooked chicken or Italian sausage for extra protein.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
