Description

Creamy Chicken Florentine is a classic comfort food dish made with juicy seared chicken breasts simmered in a rich garlic-Parmesan cream sauce with sautéed spinach. It’s a one-pan meal that’s packed with flavor and ready in about 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Units Scale

2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved horizontally to make 4 cutlets

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp butter

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp Italian seasoning

3 cups fresh baby spinach

Optional: 1 tbsp lemon juice for a bright finish

Instructions

  • Season and sear chicken: Season chicken with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  • Sauté garlic: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Deglaze and build sauce: Pour in chicken broth, scraping up any brown bits from the pan. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Add spinach: Stir in spinach and cook until wilted, about 1–2 minutes.

  • Finish: Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes to warm through. Add a splash of lemon juice if desired.

  • Serve: Great over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.

  • You can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter option.

  • Works great with boneless chicken thighs too!
