Shrimp
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Creamy Garlic Sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
To Finish
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Season the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season on both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon butter. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and just opaque. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add remaining tablespoon of butter. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant but not browned.
- Make Cream Sauce: Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and cook for another 2 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Finish the Dish: Return cooked shrimp to the skillet. Add lemon juice and stir to coat shrimp in the sauce. Let simmer for 1-2 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges. Enjoy with pasta, rice, or bread if desired!
Notes
- Do not overcook the shrimp—they cook very quickly and can become rubbery if left too long.
- Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor and color.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but the sauce will be less rich.
- You can substitute chicken for shrimp if desired—simply cook bite-sized pieces until golden and cooked through.
