Description

A creamy, comforting dish featuring ground beef and tender orzo pasta, all simmered in a rich, flavorful sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the Italian seasoning and season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the orzo pasta to the skillet and stir to combine with the beef mixture.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cover the skillet and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, mixing well until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. Serve the creamy ground beef orzo hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, add a bit more Parmesan cheese or reduce the broth before adding the cream.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition.
