Description

This Crockpot Chicken and Gravy is a hearty and comforting meal that’s easy to prepare. Tender chicken is slow-cooked in a rich, creamy gravy, making it perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. It’s an ideal dish for busy days when you want a satisfying dinner with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 packets (about 0.87 ounces each) chicken gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup sour cream (optional, for added creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gravy Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the chicken gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth (or water), garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. Assemble in Crockpot: Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are well covered.
  3. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
  4. Shred the Chicken: Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker. Stir the shredded chicken into the gravy to combine.
  5. Add Sour Cream (Optional): For a creamier texture, stir in the sour cream until well incorporated.
  6. Serve: Serve the chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a thinner gravy, add an additional 1/2 to 1 cup of chicken broth or water to the mixture before cooking.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like sliced mushrooms, onions, or carrots to the slow cooker for added flavor and nutrition.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving.
