Description
This homemade cinnamon applesauce is made right in the crockpot with fresh apples, warm cinnamon, and just a touch of sweetener. It’s smooth, naturally flavorful, and makes your kitchen smell amazing. Perfect as a snack, side dish, or topping for pancakes, oatmeal, or pork chops.
Ingredients
3 lbs apples (about 8 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped – use a mix like Fuji, Gala, and Granny Smith)
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1–2 tablespoons maple syrup or brown sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
Instructions
-
Add the chopped apples to your crockpot.
-
Sprinkle in the cinnamon, lemon juice, and optional sweetener.
-
Pour in the water and give everything a gentle stir.
-
Cover and cook on Low for 6–8 hours or High for 3–4 hours, until the apples are soft and falling apart.
-
For chunky applesauce, mash with a potato masher. For smooth applesauce, blend with an immersion blender or transfer to a regular blender (cool slightly first).
-
Let cool, then store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
Notes
-
No sweetener needed if your apples are naturally sweet — taste before adding!
-
This applesauce freezes well. Store in freezer-safe containers for up to 3 months.
-
Want to spice it up? Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves.
