Description

This Dark Chocolate Hot Chocolate is a deeply rich and velvety drink made with real dark chocolate and milk. It’s the perfect balance of bitter and sweet, ideal for chocolate lovers who like their cocoa bold and luxurious. Top it with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for a next-level treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (whole, oat, almond, or any milk of choice)

  • 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate or dark chocolate chips (60-70% cocoa)

  • 1-2 tbsp sugar or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Optional Toppings:

  • Whipped cream or coconut whip

  • Mini marshmallows

  • Shaved chocolate or cocoa powder

  • Cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until hot but not boiling.

  2. Melt the chocolate:
Reduce heat to low. Stir in chopped dark chocolate, sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  3. Serve:
Pour into mugs and top with your favorite toppings. Serve hot and enjoy immediately!

Notes

  • For an ultra-thick European-style version, use 1 ½ cups milk + ½ cup heavy cream.

  • Add a splash of espresso for a mocha twist.

  • Make it spicy with a pinch of cayenne or chili powder for Mexican hot chocolate vibes.
