Description

These brown sugar pork chops are juicy, flavorful, and perfectly caramelized thanks to a sweet and savory glaze. Made with simple ingredients, this easy recipe is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. The rich flavor pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Optional: Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chops
Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground mustard, salt, and pepper.
  2. Season
Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the pork chops.
  3. Sear
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Glaze
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter to the skillet, swirling it around until melted. Spoon the pan juices over the pork chops to glaze them. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chops reaches 145ยฐF (63ยฐC).
  5. Rest and Serve
Remove the pork chops from the skillet and let them rest for 3-5 minutes. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley if desired. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can marinate the pork chops for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Use a meat thermometer for best results; overcooking can make the chops dry.
  • Pair with roasted green beans, mashed potatoes, or a crisp green salad.
