For the Crust:

Instructions
- Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 ยฝ cups flour, 1 ยฝ teaspoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt.
- Add ยฝ cup vegetable oil and 2 tablespoons cold milk; mix until well combined.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. There’s no need to roll it out.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In another bowl, mix ยฝ cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, ยฝ teaspoon cinnamon, and ยฝ teaspoon nutmeg.
- Toss the sliced apples with this mixture until well coated. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to allow the sugar to melt onto the apples.
- Pour the apple mixture into the unbaked pie shell.
- Prepare the Crumb Topping:
- In a small bowl, combine ยฝ cup flour, ยฝ cup sugar, and ยฝ cup softened butter.
- Use your fingers or a fork to mix until the mixture becomes crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apple filling.
- Bake the Pie:
- Place the assembled pie into a large brown paper grocery bag. Fold the open end of the bag over and staple it shut to enclose the pie.
- Place the bagged pie on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 1 ยฝ hours.
- Carefully remove the pie from the oven and slit the bag open with a knife. Let the pie cool completely on a cooling rack, about 4 hours, to allow the filling to set.
