Description

These easy Chocolate Salted Caramel Tarts combine rich dark chocolate with gooey salted caramel in a buttery tart shell, perfect for an indulgent dessert or special occasion treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 pre-made mini tart shells
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (for chocolate ganache)
  • Sea salt flakes, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the pre-made tart shells on a tray and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar while stirring constantly until it turns into an amber-colored liquid.
  3. Add the butter and stir until fully melted and combined.
  4. Slowly add 1/2 cup heavy cream (be cautious, it may bubble) and stir until smooth.
  5. Stir in sea salt and let the caramel cool slightly before spooning into tart shells. Fill each tart about 2/3 full with caramel.
  6. In a separate small saucepan, heat 1/4 cup heavy cream until just simmering, then pour over chocolate chips. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth.
  7. Spoon chocolate ganache over the caramel layer in each tart shell.
  8. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • You can use homemade or store-bought tart shells for convenience.
  • Ensure caramel is not too hot before adding to tart shells to avoid softening them.
  • For a richer taste, use high-quality dark chocolate.
