  • 8 oz (225g) spaghetti or any pasta of choice
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water (optional, for extra creaminess)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta.
  2. While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sautรฉ for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Add the cooked pasta to the pan and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. If the pasta seems too dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to create a smooth sauce.
  5. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese (if using) and red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat, and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  8. Serve hot, with extra Parmesan on the side if desired.

Notes
