- 8 oz (225g) spaghetti or any pasta of choice
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup reserved pasta water (optional, for extra creaminess)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta.
- While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sautรฉ for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
- Add the cooked pasta to the pan and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. If the pasta seems too dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to create a smooth sauce.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese (if using) and red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat, and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Serve hot, with extra Parmesan on the side if desired.
