Description

A classic and easy lasagna recipe with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella cheese—perfect for a comforting family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté onion until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg until well combined.
  7. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Layer 3 noodles, 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, 1/3 of the meat sauce, and 1/3 of the mozzarella. Repeat layers twice more.
  8. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • Make ahead and refrigerate overnight for enhanced flavor.
  • Substitute ground beef with Italian sausage for a spicier flavor.
