Description

This Easy Philly Cheese Steak Casserole Recipe transforms the classic sandwich into a cheesy, comforting casserole packed with seasoned ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and gooey provolone cheese. Perfect for a family-friendly weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×9-inch or similar baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, heat olive oil and sauté bell peppers and onion until tender, about 5–7 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Return ground beef to the skillet. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix in cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and layer provolone slices over the top.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is melted and golden.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced steak instead of ground beef for a more authentic flavor.
  • Great served with a side salad or garlic bread.
  • Can be made ahead and baked when ready to serve.
