Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Salmon:

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Juice of 1 lime

For the Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (green, red, or a mix)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (or more to taste)
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

For Serving:

  • 6 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • Lime wedges
  • Extra cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon:ย Pat the salmon dry and rub it with olive oil. In a small bowl, mix chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle the seasoning evenly over the salmon.
  2. Cook the Salmon:ย Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the salmon for 3-4 minutes per side until it flakes easily with a fork. Squeeze lime juice over the salmon and let it rest for a minute before flaking into pieces.
  3. Make the Slaw:ย In a bowl, mix the shredded cabbage, cilantro, and carrots. In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise (or yogurt), lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper. Toss with the cabbage mixture until well coated.
  4. Make the Sauce:ย In a small bowl, stir together sour cream, mayonnaise, hot sauce, lime juice, and garlic powder. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Assemble the Tacos:ย Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. Fill each tortilla with flaked salmon, slaw, and avocado slices. Drizzle with the sauce and garnish with extra cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Want extra crunch? Add sliced radishes or crispy tortilla strips.
  • Make it spicy by adding jalapeรฑos or using a spicier hot sauce.
  • For a smoky touch, grill the salmon instead of pan-searing it.
  • Swap out the mayo for Greek yogurt to make it a bit lighter.
