Description
French Fried Potatoes, or classic French fries, are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the insideโperfectly seasoned and golden brown, they make a universally loved side or snack.

- 4 large russet potatoes
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Salt, to taste
- Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, black pepper
Instructions
- Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
- Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat completely dry with paper towels.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 325ยฐF (165ยฐC).
- Fry the potatoes in batches for 3โ4 minutes until softened but not browned. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Increase the oil temperature to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- Fry the potatoes again in batches for 2โ3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Immediately season with salt and optional seasonings while still hot.
- Serve hot as a side dish or snack with your favorite dipping sauces.
