Description

This green bean casserole is the ultimate comfort food side dish. Tender green beans are mixed with a creamy mushroom sauce and topped with crispy fried onions. Itโ€™s an easy, crowd-pleasing recipe that brings cozy vibes to any dinner table โ€” especially during the holidays!

 


Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and cut in half (or 2 cans, drained)

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for extra richness)

 

  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (like Frenchโ€™s), divided


Instructions

Preheat oven to 350ยฐF.

 

If using fresh green beans, boil or steam them for 5โ€“6 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.

 

In a large bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, black pepper, and cheese (if using).

 

Add the green beans and 1 cup of the crispy onions. Stir until everything is well combined.

 

Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

 

Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.

 

Remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining onions over the top, and bake for another 5โ€“10 minutes until golden and bubbly.

 

Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
