Description

A delicious fusion of classic sloppy joes and grilled cheese sandwiches, combining gooey melted cheese with savory, saucy ground beef in a crispy toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
  4. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the griddle.
  6. Top each with 1 slice of cheddar, a scoop of the sloppy joe mixture, another slice of cheddar, and a second slice of bread (buttered side up).
  7. Cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use other cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack for variation.
  • For extra flavor, add pickles or jalapeรฑos to the filling.
  • Use Texas toast or thick-cut bread for a heartier sandwich.
