Description

Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken features juicy, marinated chicken breasts infused with a sweet and tangy honey mustard sauce. Perfectly caramelized on the grill, this easy recipe is ideal for a summer cookout or weeknight dinner, offering bold flavor and minimal prep time.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Honey Mustard Marinade

  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5โ€“2 lbs)

For Garnish (optional)

  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until smooth and fully combined.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish. Pour the honey mustard marinade over the chicken, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for best flavor.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400ยฐF / 204ยฐC). Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Grill the Chicken: Remove chicken from the marinade, letting excess drip off. Grill for 6โ€“7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165ยฐF (74ยฐC) and the chicken is nicely charred and caramelized.
  5. Rest and Serve: Transfer the grilled chicken to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and lemon wedges, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, reserve a small amount of marinade (separate from raw chicken) to brush on during the last minutes of grilling.
  • Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Try this marinade with chicken thighs or use it as a dipping sauce.
