Description

These soft and chewy Grinch Cookies are a festive treat perfect for the holiday season. Made with a hint of vanilla and dyed green, theyโ€™re decorated with a single red heart sprinkle, just like the Grinchโ€™s growing heart. Perfect for cookie swaps or as a fun project with kids!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Red heart sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Add green food coloring, a few drops at a time, and mix until the dough reaches your desired shade of green.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Gently press a red heart sprinkle onto the top of each cookie.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly underbaked (theyโ€™ll firm up as they cool).
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Adjust the intensity of the green food coloring based on your preference.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For an extra festive touch, sprinkle some edible glitter on the cookies before baking.
