Description
Grinch Oreo Balls are a delightful no-bake treat inspired by Dr. Seuss’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” These festive truffles combine crushed Oreo cookies and cream cheese, coated in green candy melts, and adorned with a red heart sprinkle to symbolize the Grinch’s growing heart.
Ingredients
Scale
- 36 Oreo cookies (approximately 14.3 ounces)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 12 ounces green candy melts
- Red heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the Oreo Mixture:
- Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin.
- In a large bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Mix until well blended and a dough-like consistency forms.
- Form the Balls:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop out approximately 1-inch portions of the mixture and roll into smooth balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- Melt the Candy Coating:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts according to the package instructions, typically heating in 30-second intervals and stirring in between until smooth.
- Dip the Oreo Balls:
- Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each chilled Oreo ball into the melted candy coating, ensuring it is fully covered.
- Allow any excess coating to drip off, then place the coated ball back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Decorate:
- While the coating is still wet, place a red heart sprinkle on top of each Oreo ball.
- Set:
- Refrigerate the decorated Oreo balls until the candy coating is completely set, about 1 hour.
Notes
- Storage:ย Store the Grinch Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. They can also be frozen for up to three months; thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
