For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
For the Rolls:
- 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Topping:
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9ร13-inch baking dish. In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly into the baking dish and sprinkle pecans on top. - Prepare the Rolls:
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them. Spread softened butter evenly over the cut side. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the buttered rolls. - Assemble the Rolls:
Place the rolls, cut side down, on top of the caramel and pecans in the baking dish. - Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25โ30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden and the topping is bubbling. - Invert and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let the dish cool for 5 minutes. Carefully invert the buns onto a serving platter. Serve warm.
Notes
- Add a pinch of salt to the caramel topping for a salted caramel flavor.
- You can substitute walnuts for pecans if preferred.
- For extra decadence, drizzle with additional caramel sauce or serve with whipped cream.
