Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

For the Rolls:

  • 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Topping:
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9ร—13-inch baking dish. In a bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly into the baking dish and sprinkle pecans on top.
  2. Prepare the Rolls:
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them. Spread softened butter evenly over the cut side. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the buttered rolls.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
Place the rolls, cut side down, on top of the caramel and pecans in the baking dish.
  4. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 25โ€“30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden and the topping is bubbling.
  5. Invert and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let the dish cool for 5 minutes. Carefully invert the buns onto a serving platter. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of salt to the caramel topping for a salted caramel flavor.
  • You can substitute walnuts for pecans if preferred.
  • For extra decadence, drizzle with additional caramel sauce or serve with whipped cream.
