Scale
- 1/3 cup gum base (available at candy supply stores or online)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon glycerin (food-grade)
- 1/8 teaspoon citric acid (optional, for tangy flavor)
- 1/4 teaspoon flavoring oil (e.g., bubble gum, mint, or fruit flavors)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the Gum Base:
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the gum base, corn syrup, and glycerin together in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until fully melted. Alternatively, use a double boiler for gentle heating. - Add Flavor and Color:
Stir in the flavoring oil, citric acid (if using), and food coloring. Mix until evenly combined. - Incorporate Powdered Sugar:
Slowly mix in 1/4 cup of powdered sugar while the mixture is warm. Once it becomes difficult to stir, transfer it to a powdered-sugar-dusted surface. - Knead the Gum Dough:
Knead the gum mixture, adding more powdered sugar as needed, until it becomes smooth and pliable, like a dough. - Shape the Gum:
Roll out the gum and cut it into small pieces, or shape it into balls. Dust lightly with powdered sugar to prevent sticking. - Cool and Enjoy:
Let the gum cool and set for about an hour before chewing. Store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
Notes

- Storage:ย Keep the bubble gum in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
- Caution:ย Always supervise children during the cooking process, as the melted gum base can be very hot.
