Description

A classic spice blend thatโ€™s perfect for seafood, chicken, and more. This homemade version of Old Bay Seasoning is easy to make with spices you likely already have in your pantry. Customize it to suit your taste and add a punch of flavor to your favorite dishes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed bay leaves

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together all of the spices until well combined.
  2. Transfer the seasoning to an airtight container or spice jar.
  3. Store in a cool, dry place, and use as needed to season seafood, meats, vegetables, or any dish that could use a little extra flavor.

Notes

  • This blend can be adjusted to your taste. Add more cayenne for extra heat or increase the celery salt for a stronger savory flavor.
  • It works great for seafood boils, crab cakes, roasted vegetables, or even as a dry rub for chicken and pork.
