Description

These homemade soft pretzel bites are warm, fluffy, and perfect for dipping! Theyโ€™re made with simple ingredients and are great for parties, game day snacks, or anytime youโ€™re craving soft, salty carbs. Serve them with cheese sauce, mustard, or even cinnamon sugar for a sweet twist.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110ยฐF)

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more as needed)

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For Boiling:

  • 6 cups water

  • 1/4 cup baking soda

Topping:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Coarse salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and brown sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

Stir in salt, melted butter, and flour. Mix until dough forms, then knead for 5โ€“7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat oven to 425ยฐF. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large pot, bring 6 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.

Punch down the dough and divide into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 12โ€“15 inches long, then cut into 1-inch bites.

Working in batches, boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheets.

Brush each bite with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.

Bake for 12โ€“15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve warm with cheese dip, mustard, or your favorite sauce.

Notes:

Notes

  • For sweet pretzel bites, skip the salt and brush the baked bites with butter, then toss in cinnamon sugar.

  • You can freeze the bites before baking or after โ€” just reheat in the oven for best results.

  • Make a beer cheese dip for the ultimate party pairing!
