Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick and easy dinner recipe that combines tender chicken with a sweet, savory, and garlicky glaze. Perfect for weeknights, it pairs well with rice or steamed veggies for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons water (if using cornstarch)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sautรฉ for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  4. Optional Thickening:
If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Gradually stir it into the sauce until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  5. Coat the Chicken:
Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over it, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve:
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve hot over rice, noodles, or with steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Substitute chicken thighs for a juicier texture.
  • Add a pinch of red chili flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
